Evan Zimmermann is recognized as a successful entrepreneur, leading corporate architect and turnaround specialist with more than 15 years of experience through the development, growth and positioning of over 15 companies. Mr. Zimmermann is presently the President and CEO of Antiquorum, a Swiss auction house that specializes in selling important modern and vintage timepieces.
Evan Zimmermann spearheaded the growth of Antiquorum’s international sales from $22MM to $100MM over a period of two years, while also building its global financial infrastructure with subsidiaries in Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Antiquorum, he was president of an investment advisory firm that represented institutional investors and family offices in connection with alternative investments such as hedge funds and private equity funds. The firm was responsible for allocations of over $250 million in various alternative investments.
He currently serves as a board member and independent advisor to a number of emerging growth technology companies.
Antiquorum, established in 1974, is widely regarded as the world’s leading auction house specializing in horology. The company carved its own unparalleled niche in the auction world by cultivating a thriving collector’s market for timepieces worldwide and has continually realized the most impressive world records for sales of wristwatches, pocketwatches and clocks at auction. An impressive 44 of the 62 watches sold publicly by a major auction house for over SFr. 1,000,000 were sold by Antiquorum. In 2002, Antiquorum set the all-time world record for a wristwatch at auction, selling a unique 1939 platinum Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 1415 for US$ 4,026,524 (SFr. 6,603,500) – more than double the previous world record.
Under Mr. Zimmermann’s management, Antiquorum sold Mahatma Gandhi’s pocket watch for just under $2.1 million, Steve McQueen’s Rolex Submariner for $234,000 (more than 20 times its estimate), setting a new world record for its reference and Albert Einstein’s Longines wristwatch for $596,000 (over 2000 percent of its estimate).
